POSITION SUMMARY AND PURPOSE
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Groundworker to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for undertaking a range of tasks related to groundwork, including excavation, pipe laying, concreting, and general construction activities.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform various groundwork tasks, such as excavation, backfilling, and grading, according to project specifications.
- Install and maintain drainage systems, including pipe laying and sewer connections.
- Carry out concreting and paving work, ensuring precision and quality finishes.
- Assist in the preparation of construction sites by clearing obstacles, debris, and other hazards.
- Operate a range of construction machinery and equipment, ensuring proper usage and maintenance.
- Collaborate with the construction team to achieve project goals within specified timelines.
- Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues.
- Interpret and work from construction drawings and plans.
- Maintain tools and equipment in good condition, reporting any defects or issues promptly.
- Participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings as required.
QUALIFICATIONS/KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
- Proven experience as a Groundworker in the construction industry.
- Knowledge of various construction materials, methods, and tools.
- Ability to operate construction machinery, such as excavators, compactors, and dump trucks.
- Strong understanding of health and safety regulations in construction.
- Physical fitness and stamina to perform manual labour in varying weather conditions.
- Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
- Relevant certifications and qualifications in groundwork and construction.
- Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Valid driver's license.
