POSITION SUMMARY AND PURPOSE

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Groundworker to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for undertaking a range of tasks related to groundwork, including excavation, pipe laying, concreting, and general construction activities.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform various groundwork tasks, such as excavation, backfilling, and grading, according to project specifications.
  • Install and maintain drainage systems, including pipe laying and sewer connections.
  • Carry out concreting and paving work, ensuring precision and quality finishes.
  • Assist in the preparation of construction sites by clearing obstacles, debris, and other hazards.
  • Operate a range of construction machinery and equipment, ensuring proper usage and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with the construction team to achieve project goals within specified timelines.
  • Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues.
  • Interpret and work from construction drawings and plans.
  • Maintain tools and equipment in good condition, reporting any defects or issues promptly.
  • Participate in toolbox talks and safety meetings as required.

QUALIFICATIONS/KEY SUCCESS FACTORS

  • Proven experience as a Groundworker in the construction industry.
  • Knowledge of various construction materials, methods, and tools.
  • Ability to operate construction machinery, such as excavators, compactors, and dump trucks.
  • Strong understanding of health and safety regulations in construction.
  • Physical fitness and stamina to perform manual labour in varying weather conditions.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills.
  • Relevant certifications and qualifications in groundwork and construction.
  • Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Valid driver's license.
