Kilmac have been awarded the contract from Maxi Construction to deliver works associated to groundworks elements of Menstrie Early Years Centre in Clackmannanshire. The project comprises of a single storey new build on the grounds of an existing primary school. The new structure is a steel portal frame, with insulated cladding roof system and insulated timber frame wall construction and rainscreen cladding. The nursery building accommodates all age groups in an open plan arrangement on the central core, with access out to external play areas. Staff and children services areas are located around this central open area.
Due to the logistics of this site, detailed traffic management plans have been put in place to ensure public safety is not jeopardised with the introduction of construction traffic and associated movements within the residential area. Restricted hours have been enforced on site delivery times to minimise interface with public at peak school entry & exit times. Exclusion zones shall also be in place during works operation to maintain a segregation between construction site and operation primary school.
The works themselves shall be carefully planned due to the tight boundary lines around the site and the location of the new building. Works will be phased to ensure that areas can be completed in advance of becoming remote due to on-going works of the main structure.
