We are delighted to announce that Kilmac has been awarded the contract with Crail Community Partnership to deliver enhancement works in the area.

Project Details:

The project entails a series of critical tasks to enhance water management and ecological sustainability in the area. The detailed specifications are currently in the process of being drawn up, and we are committed to ensuring that the final project aligns with Trustee Crail’s expectations.

The work Kilmac will be carrying out is as follows:

Deculverting Field Drain into Surface Burn:

  • Excavation and shaping of a 35-meter field drain to integrate with the surface burn.
  • Creation of a new burn course to optimize water flow.

Pond Construction:

  • Digging a 0.6-hectare pond with a maximum depth of 1.5 meters.
  • Incorporating the deculverted field drain into the pond to enhance water retention.

Meadow Creation:

  • Distributing soil excavated from the pond over the adjacent tarmac to create an 0.8-hectare meadow area.

Pond Lining:

  • Lining the pond with imported clay to ensure water retention and sustainability.

Burn Re-meandering:

  • Shaping and re-meandering a 35-meter section of the deculverted burn, incorporating it with the newly constructed pond.
