Earthworks have commenced ahead of programme on the new Blairgowrie recreation centre project. Following initial enabling works to get the site set up. A full topsoil strip of the development was complete leading onto a cut and fill operation.
Around 20,000m3 of earth has been required to be moved to bring the site to a level formation allowing a raft slab to be constructed for the main building. Modelling of the full earthworks was completed by our highly skilled earth works engineers allowing machine control to be used for the full operation.
Bulk excavation works are now complete for the new state of the art 25M swimming pool to be constructed, replacing the current outdated public swimming pool. Works to bring the new 4G hockey pitch to a tiered formation have also been completed within the earth moving operations. This will be a great addition to the local amenities.
Due to the development being on the existing Blairgowrie High School playing fields. Strict traffic management was required to ensure the safety of the local community and the safety of kids attending the school. Close liaising with school representatives and the local authority allowed this to be managed most efficiently.
Installation of underground drainage have also commenced on the project at this early stage, with installation of a new foul water system being installed to service the development. Surface water mitigation works have been carried to ensure the protection of residential properties which are in close proximity to the development. Installation of surface water drainage and attenuation tank system is due to follow on.
