Kilmac is pleased to announce the successful completion of all contracts works at the Dundee Aldi store, achieved on schedule. This accomplishment reflects the dedication and hard work of our team on a fast-paced project.
The project faced significant challenges early on, including severe weather during the initial 12,000m³ earthworks and poor existing ground conditions. Despite these obstacles, our site team meticulously planned every movement to keep the project on track and prevent delays.
Over 800m³ of concrete was cast and finished to specification for the floor slabs, retaining walls, and foundations. Extensive pre-planning ensured every detail regarding access, protection, finishes, and curing time was meticulously managed. The high-paced concrete program required close coordination with the underfloor heating contractor and subsequent trades to maintain the project schedule.
The project featured a mix of hard landscaping and surfacing, with over 1,700m² of permeable blocks, 2,800m² of roadway surfacing, and 1,000m² of footway surfacing. Early efforts focused on creating substantial laydown areas for all trades, providing hard running surfaces for site plant, and easing program pressure as the project progressed. This collaborative planning between the client and site team resulted in the completion of all surfacing in a single visit.
