Project Outline

To install a 500kW wind turbine on a shooting estate at Finavon Hill, near Forfar. Kilmac were required to upgrade both public and existing site roads from the A90 to the site, this also included constructing approximately 500 metres of new road. Kilmac also installed 3kms of cable track to allow connection to the national grid. Kilmac acted as main contractor to manage the installation of both SSE, who carried out the electrical connection works and EWT, who installed the wind turbine.

Bulk excavation, Off site road works, on site roadworks, foundation installation, utility tracking, electrical installation, turbine erection.

Project Highlights

  • Working with the landowner Kilmac managed the installation to minimise disruption to the daily business of farming and shooting.
  • Kilmac installed new roads through farmland with careful consideration given to the reinstatement and level transition to the fields so as allow maximum usage of the farm land after construction.
