Breaking Ground on Templehall Community Hub in Kirkcaldy

Project Overview

The Templehall Community Hub will become a central facility for collaborative service delivery and community support in Kirkcaldy. This vital new development will provide flexible and inclusive spaces, including:

  • A multi-use hall for events and activities
  • Public library
  • Training kitchen and community café
  • Community garden and allotments
  • Multi-use games area

The project aims to enhance community access to key services and promote health, wellbeing, learning and inclusion in the local area.


Scope of Works

Kilmac has been awarded the enabling and groundworks package for the Templehall Community Hub. The scope of works includes:

  • Bulk earthworks and site preparation
  • Installation of retaining walls for an access ramp
  • Formation of a piling platform
  • Construction of foundations
  • Installation of foul and surface water drainage, including an attenuation tank
  • Construction of the floor slab
  • Delivery of hard landscaping areas
  • Preparatory works for the multi-use games area

Key Challenges

The project presents several logistical and operational challenges:

  • Working near the public in a busy residential area
  • Ensuring minimal disruption to residents
  • Maintaining safe access to the adjacent nurture centre throughout construction.
