We put our gifted apprentice Sam in the spotlight by asking him what he has learnt so far from his apprenticeship with Kilmac. Here is what he had to say!
I was looking for the right opportunity to come along, and a (now) colleague told me that Kilmac supported apprenticeship programmes. I was delighted to accept it, and I am currently still undergoing this.
I was able to bring the learning practice from college into my work which is challenging and yet rewarding at the same time. I am motivated by seeing something that I started finally being complete. I am still learning the tricks of the trade and working through the apprenticeship, but I look forward to completing this in the future.
Not only will I gain a professional qualification, but it also opens up opportunities with Kilmac and, hopefully, even develop my role in the future. The apprenticeship has helped me get my foot in the door of construction, get site experience, and be satisfied with my industry learning. My advice to anyone considering an apprenticeship is to do it!
