Background
Sidlaw View Playpark sits at the heart of two growing communities in Dundee—Birkhill and Muirhead. It forms part of a key pedestrian and cycle route connecting residents to schools, the medical centre, post office, pharmacy, and other local services. It’s also a vital route for children commuting to Birkhill Primary School and is used for cycling proficiency training.
In recent years, the area faced challenges including outdated equipment, flooding, and general wear and tear. Following extreme weather and drainage issues in 2022, the Sidlaw View Residents Association set out a phased improvement plan. While some milestones were achieved, including tarmacked footpaths and mains drainage, the replacement of the playpark remained unfunded and at risk.
Kilmac’s Role
When the project faced funding shortfalls and risk of delay, Kilmac stepped in with a substantial in-kind contribution exceeding £16,000. This support ensured the playpark works could move forward without compromise to scope or quality.
