Kilmac Ltd were contracted to carry out the Ground works and building shell works for the refurbishment of an existing commercial building for a new Smyths Toy Store and Gym.
The works were carried out within the extents of the existing Development and were carried out in 3 main phases, in order to meet the Client's tight programme.
The Ground works consisted of the following;
Service Yard
Construction of a new Service Yard to access the rear of the properties for deliveries. The service yard was an awkward arrangement with a tricky sloping access and consisted of;
Site Clearance
Bulk Earthworks, including re-use of suitable excavated as fill on site
New in-situ cast reinforced concrete retaining walls up to 3m high, cast at or near the boundary
New 2.4m high wall built on the top of part of the retaining wall
New pre-cast concrete retaining walls, up to 2.5m high
200mm thick reinforced concrete service yard

New fencing and gates
New drainage

External Works – New Car Park and Access Paths
Reduce level excavation, with cut and fill on site and removal of surplus off-site

Building Shell Works
1m high full height Jumbo stud wall to separate building, including 2hr fire protection
Removal of existing louvers and cladding and replacement with new Architectural cladding
Removal of existing Brick and Blockwork facade, supply, fabrication and installation of new structural steelwork and supply and installation of new curtain walling and access doors
Formation of new openings and supply and installation of new roller shutter doors and double fire doors
Supply and installation of new structural steel and glass canopy to front of building
Roof maintenance works
Clean and repair existing guttering
Clean and repair existing brickwork facade.
